Four Russian soldiers were killed in a shoot-out in a field camp in Kostroma region. The incident was reported by TASS with a reference to the press service of the Defense Ministry.
“August 26, 2015 in the guardroom of the field camp in Kostroma region a soldier fired a machine gun, which resulted in one officer and two soldiers killed and two other soldiers were wounded”, – the report says.
The gunman committed suicide.
As a preliminary version of the reason of the shootout the Ministry of Defence says reasons personal motives. A special commission is heading from Moscow.
A criminal case was opened by Investigative Committee upon firing and deaths. “Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has started a criminal case against a soldier held military service in the military unit 71211. He is suspected of having committed an offense under subsection “a” part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder of two or more persons)”, – quotes Interfax .
The incident has taken place in the same military unit that was mentioned in connection with the arrest of ten Russian paratroopers in Eastern Ukraine. As was previously reported by RBC, at August 26, 2014 the Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of soldiers of the 98th Svir Airborne Division of the Armed Forces of Russia (military unit 71211).
The Russian Defense Ministry said at the time that the soldiers crossed the border accidentally. “These troops were patrolling a section of the Russian-Ukrainian border. Most likely they crossed it accidentally because the border was unequipped and unmarked. They did not resist to the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the arrest,”- stated in the department.
