Russia’s Federation Council authorized use of Russian troops in Syria


The Federation Council unanimously supported the use of the Russian Armed Forces abroad. This was reported by RIA “Novosti” with reference to the head of the Kremlin administration Sergei Ivanov.

According to Ivanov, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin appealed to the Federation Council with a request regarding Syria. Head of Administration emphasized that in this case it is a matter of national interest.

Ivanov also said that a similar situation existed in Tajikistan in the 90s, when military force has been permitted to use abroad to counter terrorism.

Appeal to the Federation Council was introduced by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
