The State Duma proposed to fire officials for using Google, Yahoo and WhatsApp

MPs are preparing a bill that will allow firing of civil clerks who keep using Google, Yahoo and WhatsApp, and do not “hear” the recommendations of the Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev about these services.

According to “Izvestia“, the State Duma (the lower house of Russian Parliament – RRT) deputies are preparing a bill prohibiting state employees to use internet services Google, Yahoo and WhatsApp for work purposes.

Relevant initiatives were made by the head of public organization “Let’s defend Russia” Mikhail Marchenko and State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Vadim Solovyov. They believe that “officials did not hear” statements by Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, who encouraged public servants to abandon the use of foreign services.

The authors of the bill propose to amend the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation and add the fines and penalties for the offense for officials, up to their dismissal from office.

It should be mentioned that in August Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said that computer programs of foreign intelligence services were found on Russian government servers. He urged officials to abandon the use of foreign Internet services for official correspondence.
