Russian communists will protest if DiCaprio plays Lenin

Representatives of the organization “Communists of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region”, and the party “Communist of Russia” said that they will organize a protest rally if the actor Leonardo DiCaprio plays Vladimir Lenin. A corresponding letter was sent to the Lenfilm studio.

Earlier DiCaprio admitted that he would “very, very, very much” like to play Russian president Vladimir Putin. In addition, the actor showed great interest in Russian history, particularly in such figures as Grigory Rasputin and Vladimir Lenin.

The press secretary of Lenfilm Valery Karpov, in turn, said that the film company is ready to help recreate any historical period for the project attended by the famous Hollywood actor.

“It is gratifying that the famous actor turned to the image of Lenin,” – said the head of the Leningrad Communists Viktor Perov. – “But before we entrust DiCaprio such a responsible role, the actor has to go through a rigorous artistic council, and repent for past sins, for his frivolous roles! Does he truly understand the role of Lenin in history, is he familiar with Lenin’s biography, doesn’t he intend to discredit the immortal image of Lenin just to entertain the bourgeois public?” – asked representatives of the organization.

The party stressed that Boris Shchukin, Mikhail Ulyanov and Kirill Lavrov, who played Lenin in different years, should serve as a model for Leonardo.

Representatives of the organization believe that any actor who gets the role of Lenin has no right to play negative characters afterwards, “which is, unfortunately, Leonardo’s case”.

“Therefore, DiCaprio has to give our party a notarial obligation not to play evil and scary characters if he gets lucky to bring the image of Lenin to the screen!”, – said on the website of the organization.

The Communists of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region is an interregional public organization, based on the representatives of the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Communist Youth, and members of the district committees of the Communist Party of some districts of St. Petersburg.

The organization is known for its many outrageous statements and provocative actions. Among recent initiatives of KPLO there is a request to lift restrictions on the sale of alcohol because of the influenza epidemic, to add a new holiday “The Day of the Turkish army defeat”, and their willingness to make a cat a member of the party.
