Ukrainian Foreign Ministry showed Lavrov’s signature on guarantees of the integrity of Ukraine

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia did not threaten Ukraine with nuclear weapons, therefore did not violate the Budapest Memorandum.

As a response, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry published a picture of the letter to the UN Secretary General with the notification of the accepting of the Budapest Memorandum, signed in 1994 by the representative of Russia Sergey Lavrov, who declared Russia’s commitment to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The corresponding picture was posted on Twitter by the Director of Policy and Communications Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Alexei Makeev.

“They say there were no obligations of Russia under the Budapest Memorandum? Look who asked the UNGA&UNSC to circulate it as its document!” – wrote Makeev.
