Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Adel al-Jubeir in his interview to CNN said that in case of failure of the political settlement of the situation in Syria, the President Bashar al-Assad could be overthrown by force.

“I believe that Assad is weak, and that he is finished”, – he said.

According to him, at first, Assad wasn’t saved by his own troops, and after that Iran’s and Iraq’s support has not helped him to regain control over the country.

Afterwards, as the head of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, the head of Syria turned to Russia, but it didn’t help Assad either, believes al-Jubeir. “The man, who is responsible for destroying his own country, has no future in it”, – added the minister.

“I have no doubts that Bashar al-Assad will leave. He will leave either as a result of a political process, or will be overthrown by force. The people of Syria will not accept him as the ruler”, – said al-Jubeir.

He said that Saudi Arabia is ready to send troops to Syria for a military ground operation, but only as part of a coalition led by the United States.

Earlier it was reported that the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Adel al-Jubeir confirmed that authorities are considering the option of participation in a ground operations against the terrorists in Syria.
