As reported by the press service of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, Gazprom was given 2 months to raise money for the payment of the fine imposed on it. The due date of the payment is April 12, 2016.

The reason for the fine is worded as follows: “For the abuse of monopoly position on the gas transit market”.

It is said in the press release that on February 12 the Ukrainian side has sent the corresponding notification to Gazprom, who was the defendant, and to Naftogaz Ukraine, who was a third party.

Gazprom representatives have already said that they consider the imposition of a fine as “a pressure attempt”.

The fine amounts to 85.86 billion hryvnia, and being converted to US dollars matches the amount that Russia wants Ukraine to pay for so-called “Yanukovych’s loan”.
