Putin said about people’s support of repressions against offenders

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that people support repressive measures against violators of the law when they see that these repressions are used for the benefit of society.

“Even when police officers use, frankly speaking, repressive measures to those who violate the law, people see that this is done for the benefit of society – and people support it,” – said Putin, speaking at the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Putin called to increase “positive results” of the actions of the Ministry. At the same time, he said that crime rate in Russia raised by 9% in 2015. The President admitted that Russia has failed to achieve a “radical breakthrough in crime situation”, the need for which was discussed at the board of the MIA a year ago.

According to Putin, almost every other crime in Russia remains unsolved.
