Peskov: An “information attack” against Putin is being prepared


The press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that “an allegedly objective and sensational information attack” is being prepared against Vladimir Putin in the coming days. It was reported by Radio Svoboda (Radio Liberty – RRT).

Peskov said that the Kremlin received “requests put up in interrogation manner”. According to him, the requests came from the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which consists of journalists from different countries.

The speaker of Kremlin declares that journalists and “representatives of other organizations and services” authored the requests.

“In the next few days they are going to publish the next screed in Germany, USA, UK, Switzerland, Russia, and several other countries,” – Peskov said.

He said that the information concerns the Russian President Vladimir Putin, his family, friends, businessmen, and offshore companies.

According to Peskov, well-known international news agencies are involved in preparing of the publication.

“There we are talking about some statements on organized crime and corruption, also Putin’s communications with businessmen are rehashed, as well as receiving state contracts by them, and their enrichment thanks to Putin,” – he said.

Peskov named the yet unpublished material “paid journalism”, and said that the Kremlin will not respond to requests.
