US State Department won’t comment on photos of US special forces in Syria

For security reasons, the US State Department will not comment on photos of US special forces in Syria that were published recently.

“We have previously said that they (the special forces of the USA – ed.) are located in northern Syria to support the Syrian democratic forces, but I can not go into further details. I do not think it is in the interests of their operational security,” the official spokesman of the State Department Mark Toner said.

Previously, the agency France Press has published photos of military, which were called American commandos by the “Democratic forces of Syria“. Photos were taken on May 25.

In the photos it can be noticed that some US troops wear the markings of Kurdish combat units. It can be assumed that they either do it in support of Kurdish forces, or to hide their affiliation with the US Army.
