The Times: Russia used “vacuum bombs” in Syria

Russia used thermobaric bombs in the vicinity of residential areas of the Syrian city of Aleppo in preparation for a ground assault, violating the international convention.

It was reported by The Times.

“Russia is breaching international conventions by dropping incendiaries similar to white phosphorus on to residential neighbourhoods in the Syrian city of Aleppo in what is thought to be the prelude to a ground assault to retake the city from rebel forces,” said in the statement.

Experts say that the photos also show that the thermobaric bomb (the most powerful weapon after nuclear weapons) exploded near urban areas.

The media writes that this could have disastrous consequences for the civilian population.
