33 high-ranked officials were detained in Turkey


According to Anadolu agency, Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for 44 top officials suspected of having links with the opposition preacher Fethullah Gülen.

The agency notes that there are governors and their deputies among the officials whose arrest was authorized. 33 people have already been detained, the rest are searched for.

Earlier on Sunday it became known about the dismissal of 1,389 Turkish military personnel. Among them there is a large number of officers, 9 generals, and Advisor to the President of Turkey Ali Yazici. They are also suspected of having links with the Gulen’s organization.

Former Imam Gulen, who is now living in the United States, is called the “mastermind” of the military coup, which took place in Turkey on the night of July 16th.
