Iran considers oil supplies to Slovakia and Czech Republic through Ukraine

Iran will consider Ukraine’s proposal to transit Iranian oil through Ukrainian pipeline system to Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

This was announced by Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh after talks with the head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy Igor Nasalik, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

According to Iranian Ministry of Oil, Tehran is also ready to start cooperation to supply oil directly to Ukraine, but Ukrainian refining capacity is small, and oil products are mostly imported into the country.

Iranian media IRNA and Shana also added that Kiev offers to Tehran to consider the possibility of Iranian gas transit through Ukrainian territory. Besides, Zangeneh noted that Ukraine is also attractive because of its advanced power engineering industry, and the parties are currently working on co-operation in the field of gas turbines and compressors.

As it was reported, the Ukrainian delegation headed by the Minister Nasalik is on a working visit to Iran from July 31 to August 2, where it is planned to meet with Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian.
