Russia might lift food embargo against Turkey this year

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev said that the restrictive measures against Turkish farmers may be canceled before the end of the year.

“We need to make sure that the Turkish agricultural producers meet the quality standards in order to allow supplies of their products to Russia,” quotes Interfax the minister.

Also, Ulyukayev believes that it will take 1-2 years to restore the volumes of trade between Turkey and Russia.

“In terms of the volumes we’ll restore rather quickly, I think a year or two will be enough for the recovery of the volumes,” said the head of the Ministry of Economy.

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Saint-Petersburg.
