Geoffrey Pyatt: There was no “Ukrainian invasion” in Crimea

The United States did not believe in the story of the “Crimean saboteurs”, made up by the FSB.

Such a position of the highest leadership of the country was voiced by the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt on Twitter.

“This is not the first false accusation against Ukraine, which Russia puts forward to divert attention from its own unlawful acts. The U.S. Government sees no confirmation of Russia’s statements on alleged Ukraine’s ‘invasion of Crimea’,” the diplomat noted.

Pyatt said that the position of the U.S. on the Crimea has not changed: the Crimea is, and will always remain part of Ukraine.

“Our sanctions related to the occupation of the Crimea will remain in force until Russia returns the peninsula to Ukraine,” the ambassador wrote.
