USA supplied four F-16 fighters to Iraq


Iraqi Air Force received 4 multipurpose light fighter F-16 Fighting Falcon from the United States.

This was told to the Associated Press agency by a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Iraq Major General Tahsin Ibrahim.

Ibrahim said that the new aircraft will strengthen the country’s air force in the fight against militants of the terrorist group Islamic State.

Together with the new party, the total number of F-16 fighter jets in service with the Air Force in Iraq has reached 8. In total, the U.S. agreed to sell 36 fighters to Iraq.

The situation remains tense in Iraq, due to activities of the ISIS, that seized part of the country. Militants perform attacks, and terrorist acts, targeting mostly civilians.
