China harshly responded to Russia on situation in Crimea

Chinese authorities commented on the events in the Crimea. Apparently, Putin won’t like the laconic answer of the Chinese side.

Chinese statement was made during a UN Security Council meeting held on the Ukrainian-Russian issue happened on August 12. It was a special meeting that took place on the initiative of Ukraine, which is currently a temporary member of the UN Security Council.

During a meeting of the UN Security Council, Chinese Ambassador Liu Jieyi responded to a question about the provocations in Crimea, and the legality of holding the territory by the Russian Federation:

“We respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its borders, established in 1991. Therefore, we do not accept the phrase ‘terrorist attack on Russian territory.'”

The same position was expressed by every member of the UN Security Council on August 12, except for the Russian representative.
