Iran refused to buy air defense missile systems S-400 from Russia

On Saturday, August 20, Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said that Iran is not going to buy anti-aircraft missile system S-400 “Triumph” from Russia.

“The Russian side offered S-400 complexes to Iran, but we do not have a program for buying them,” the politician said.

Anti-aircraft missile system S-400 “Triumph” was designed by the state company “Almaz-Antey” based on the experience acquired from the development of long-range air defense missile systems such as the S-300P.

The system is able to strike aerodynamic targets at a distance up to 400 kilometres, as well as ballistic targets flying with a speed of up to 4.8 kilometres per second at a distance of 60 km, with a height range from several meters to several tens of kilometres.
