Protest rally on tractors from Kuban to Moscow blocked by law enforcers

The rally of farmers and truckers, started the day before from Kuban, was blocked by law enforcers.

According to Reuters, the drivers were stopped 14 times by law enforcement officers. The activists want to “get to the president,” and talk about corruption, violation of their rights, and transport issues. They intend to demand the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev, and the Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov.

The rally started on August 21 in the Kazanskaya village of the Krasnodar region. From there, the Kuban farmers drive their tractors, accompanied by truckers from St. Petersburg going by cars. Heavy trucks join them as they go.

According to activists, law enforcers blocked them during their stop in the town of Dorozhnoye of the Rostov region, saying that they violate the order of picketing and processions.

“We do not have slogans and posters, only the flags of Russia, Kuban, and the Association of Carriers,” the farmers say.
