Former workers of AvtoVAZ blocked federal highway because of unpaid wages

Former employees of AvtoVAZ Agregat factory started a protest rally on the M5 highway, demanding to pay off the wages.

“Former employees of the Tolyatti branch of AvtoVAZ Agregat are ready for desperate measures. Today they went on the M5 federal road. They started a protest rally at a pedestrian crossing VSO-5. For a period of time, there was a traffic jam in both directions. People with posters walk back and forth on the crosswalk, causing issues for drivers. There are several tens of Togliatti residents, demanding their salaries. They have not been paid for about a year.”

In turn, a spokesman for the mayor of Tolyatti Nina Karapetyants said that the rally on the road has not been approved, and the participants were invited to move to a different place, but they did not comply.

The plant AvtoVAZ Agregat was declared bankrupt in October last year, the total salary debt owed to 669 employees of AvtoVAZ Agregat and its subsidiaries is more than 44 million rubles (approx. $670,000 – RRT).
