The American states: California, Texas, and New York surpassed Russia in terms of GDP in 2015.
This assessment was made accounting for purchasing power parity. However, if counted in absolute terms, the GDP of Russia also comparable with the GDP of the state of Florida. This follows from the data published by Bloomberg recently. Also, the data shows that Mexico also surpassed Russia in terms of GDP and income per capita.
According to Bloomberg, the value of Russia’s nominal GDP fell back to the level it was at the beginning of this century, and will continue to fall, expectedly by 5% in 2016. The GDP fall might slow down not earlier than in 2018.
