During his annual appeal to the Parliament, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the case of Crimea was effectively closed back in 1954 and 1991, and the peninsula was, is, and will be Ukrainian.

“Putin’s statement that the case of the Crimea is closed is no more than his delusions. In fact, the case was really closed in 1954, and then in 1991, and the Crimea was, is, and will be Ukrainian. There can’t be any other talks,” stressed the head of the state.

In 1954, the Crimea was transferred from the Russian Soviet Republic to the Ukrainian Soviet Republic in accordance with the decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Earlier, the head of Russia Vladimir Putin said that the case of the annexed Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea was “historically closed”.
