Foreign ministers of France and Germany assured that their countries will not recognize elections in Crimea

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said that their countries do not recognize the annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea by Russia.

“Regarding the second question, about the legitimacy of the elections to the Duma in the Crimea, as my colleague Ayrault already said: we do not recognize, and will not recognize the annexation of the Crimea,” Steinmeier said, answering a question regarding the recognition of legitimacy of the elections to the State Duma, which will also be held in the Crimea.

He also recalled that OSCE observers will not be present during these elections on the Ukrainian peninsula.
