The President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that Russia’s unwillingness to return the debris of the presidential plane, crashed near Smolensk in 2010, causes various assumptions.
“I’m surprised that Russia does not want to give Poland the wreckage back. The fact that they do not want to give up the wreckage raises all sorts of speculation. Under normal circumstances, someone who has nothing to hide would return the property of another country,” said the President of Poland Andrzej Duda at a press conference, answering the question about the difficulties of returning wreckage to Poland.
He recalled that even though the Tu-154 was produced in Russia, it is Polish property.
“Poland purchased the plane. The wreckage is our property. There is the fundamental question of why Russia does not want to return our property,” said president Duda.
