NDTV channel citing its sources reported that India and France will sign a contract worth €7.87 billion on delivery of 36 Rafale fighter jets on September 23.
According to the channel, the head of the French Ministry of Defense, Jean-Yves Le Drian will come in New Delhi for the signing of the contract.
In January, India and France signed an agreement on the purchase of fighter jets, but the price has not been agreed on. French company Dassault Aviation insisted on €10.5 billion. In May, the price was reduced to €7.8 billion.
The contract was expected to be signed by July, but it didn’t happen. In early September, it was reported that the two sides have completed negotiations, and the signing is expected in the near future, after the approval of the transaction by the Government of India.
It is expected that the first aircraft will be delivered to India in 3 years, the last one – in 7 years after the signing.
