U.S. House of Representatives unanimously voted for the law “Stability and Democracy for Ukraine Act”, that allows Washington to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine.
The law obliges the United States and its allies to provide comprehensive assistance to Ukraine.
“The policy of the United States to further assist the Government of Ukraine in restoring its sovereignty and territorial integrity to contain, reverse, and deter Russian aggression in Ukraine and that that policy shall be carried into effect, among other things, through a comprehensive effort, in coordination with allies and partners of the United States, that includes sanctions, diplomacy, and assistance, including lethal defensive weapons systems,” quotes the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington.
The document also prohibits U.S. authorities to recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. It obliges the United States to maintain restrictive measures against Moscow until the complete fulfillment of Minsk Protocol.
The bill is still to be approved by the upper house of parliament, and signed by the President of the country.
