Missile Bulava launched from submarine self-destroyed for unknown reason


As reported on Tuesday, September 27 by the press-service of Ministry of Defense, one of the two ballistic missiles Bulava, launched from a submarine “Yury Dolgoruky” in the White Sea to test field in Kamchatka, self-destroyed in the air.

Experimental firing of two missiles from a submerged position was performed on September 27. As it was highlighted in the Defense Ministry, both missiles “left their shafts normally, following their trajectories.”

Fighting unit of the first missile finished the complete cycle of the flight program, and successfully hit the target at the test site. The second missile self-destructed after the first stage of a mission. The reasons were not specified.
