USA tested newest nuclear bombs

The newest nuclear bombs B61-7 and B61-11 were tested in the USA (without using warheads).

It is reported by UkrInform with reference to the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA).

Bombs were dropped from a strategic bomber B-2 Spirit. Telemetry equipment installed on ammunition showed that the tests were successful.

The new modification of the nuclear bomb B61 will enter service in 2020.

“The B61 is a critical element of the U.S. nuclear triad and the extended deterrent,” said Brigade General Michael Lutton, NNSA’s principal assistant deputy administrator for military application.
