As reported by Interfax, by the results of the latest 28th vote, Russia did not achieve to be re-elected to the new UN Human Rights Council.
According to the results of voting in the Eastern European group, 112 countries voted for Russia, while the victory was gained by Hungary, receiving 144 votes, and Croatia with 114 votes.
During the vote in the UN General Assembly, 14 new representatives of the UNHRC were elected. Besides Hungary and Croatia, the new Council will include Brazil, United Kingdom, Egypt, Iraq, China, Cuba, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Tunisia, South Africa and Japan. They will work in this UN structure in the period from 2017 to 2019.
