The social network for business contacts LinkedIn will be blocked on the territory of Russia.
This was announced after a session of the Moscow City Court, where an appeal of the social network was considered in connection with the decision of Roskomnadzor.
Earlier it was reported that Roskomnadzor requested the blocking of LinkedIn for violating the law on personal data, which obliges to store personal data of Russians only in Russia. According to its representatives, the service addressed the management of LinkedIn multiple times, requesting to provide the information on how the law on personal data was obeyed, but never received a response.
At the trial, LinkedIn representatives insisted that the social network does not conduct activities in the territory of Russia and does not identify users by their place of residence, therefore, it should not be subject to the norms of Russian legislation.
Nevertheless, the court found the blocking legitimate. The decision comes into force immediately.
