FIFA 17 video game was accused of gay propaganda in Russia

State Duma deputies Valery Rashkin and Irina Rodnina stated that FIFA 17 promotes homosexuality, and the game to be evaluated for compliance with the law regarding the protection of children from the propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations.

The officials disliked LGBT action “Rainbow shoelaces”, started by the English Premier League. The developer of FIFA 17, EA Canada supported the action and introduced rainbow uniform.

Also, the MPs were outraged that the game has no age limit, and is rated “0+”.

“Izvestia” quoted a fragment of parliamentary query to Roskomnadzor (Russia’s Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies, and Mass Communications – RRT):

“Meanwhile, according to the law ‘On protection of children from information harmful to their health and development’, the information that is harmful to health and (or) development of children includes information that promotes non-traditional sexual relations.”

The Office received the request on December 1, but so far they have not commented on it.
