Israeli Air Force received first two fifth-generation fighters F-35

As it was told by Pentagon on Monday, first two fifth-generation fighters F-35 arrived in Israel from the USA.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter was at the airbase Nevatim, where the fighters were supposed to land.

Upon the arrival of the fighters a ceremony was held at the air base, which was attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Israel ordered 50 F-35 fighter jets produced by the American company Lockheed Martin, which should replace the fourth-generation fighter F-16, developed in the mid-1970s, which are currently the basis of the Israeli Air Force.
