According to the website of the organization, the International Ski Federation (FIS) has confirmed the cancellation of the snowboard cross event, as well as the parallel giant slalom, which were scheduled for February 24-26 in Kazan, Tatarstan (Russia).
“Both World Cup competitions … had do be cancelled due to financial reasons. The Russian Snowboard Federation together with FIS is currently looking for possible replacement competitions in Russia on the same dates,” says the statement of the federation.
In late December, the finals of the World Cup in speed skating was canceled in Chelyabinsk, and the Russian Biathlon Union refused to hold the World Cup in Tyumen. In both cases the reason was the accusation of the existence of doping system in Russia, which hid positive samples of hundreds of Russian athletes.
