As reported by the command of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, field commander Mikhail Tolskykh, also known as ‘Givi’ was killed in the separatists-controlled territory of Donbass.
The report says that Givi was killed in a “terrorist attack”. The separatists blame a “group of Ukrainian commandos”.
Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov rejected Moscow’s possible involvement in the assassination of the field commander of the separatists. According to him, Givi was killed in order to destabilize the situation in the east of Ukraine.
Former warlord of pro-Russian separatists Igor Strelkov (Girkin) wrote that Givi died in an explosion in his office in the headquarters of the Somalia Battalion in Donetsk.
Ukrainian officials say they can not confirm the death of Givi because the territory where he was killed is not controlled by Ukraine.
