Russia’s Permanent Representative to UN Vitaly Churkin died


As reported by Russian Foreign Ministry, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin has died in New York on February 20th.

The Ministry said he died the day before his 65th birthday.

“An outstanding Russian diplomat died at his post,” said in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to preliminary data revealed by a representative of the Russian Embassy in the United States to CBS News, Churkin died of a heart attack.

As Russia’s deputy U.N. ambassador Vladimir Safronkov told news agency Associated Press, Churkin felt unwell in his office and was taken to Presbyterian Hospital, where he died.
