The head of the Crimea Sergei Aksyonov spoke in favor of changing the form of government in Russia. According to RIA Novosti, he told local media that the country needs a monarchy.
According to Aksyonov, there is no benefit in the democracy. He spoke of Ukraine as a “bad example” of this form of government. Aksyonov believes that Russia “has its own traditional Orthodox values, spirituality, and democracy must only exist up to certain ‘normal’ limits.”
The head of the Crimea added that when there is no single source of power, collective irresponsibility comes.
“Therefore, when the country faces external challenges it is necessary to take more stringent measures in their regard… Today, in my opinion, Russia needs a monarchy,” the politician said.
At the same time Sergei Aksyonov spoke in favor of the lifetime presidency of the current head of the state Vladimir Putin.
“We wish that he (Putin) would be our president until the end of his days. Honestly, I just do not see anybody else,” Aksyonov said, noting that Putin has no alternatives as the president.
