Russia says it will not intercept US missiles in case of possible next attack on Syria

The head of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Viktor Ozerov commented on the statement of White House spokesman Sean Spicer that the United States could strike on Syria again in case of a new chemical attack.

As reported by Interfax, the senator said that in case of a such attack Russia will not be intercepting American missiles. He explained that the Russian armed forces “are in Syria to fight terrorism, and not to protect the country from external threats,” and do not have an appropriate mandate.

“But if Syrian air defenses do this, they have a full legal right to it,” Ozerov said.
