As reported by Reuters with reference to a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan Dawlat Waziri, 36 militants of the Islamic State were killed in Afghanistan after the U.S. dropped its most powerful non-nuclear bomb.
“No civilian has been hurt and only the base which ISIS used to launch attacks in other parts of the province, was destroyed,” Waziri said.
According to him, the bomb targeted a network of tunnels and caves, used by terrorists.
The bomb GBU-43 is the largest non-nuclear bomb that the United States military ever used. According to Pentagon spokesman Adam Stump, it was dropped from an MC-130 plane in the Achin district of Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, near the border with Pakistan.
