US President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey

As follows from an official letter, the U.S. President Donald Trump fired the director of the FBI James Comey.

“The president has accepted the recommendation of the Attorney General and the deputy Attorney General regarding the dismissal of the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” said the White House spokesman Sean Spicer.

Comey was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2013 for a 10-year term, which he intended to work out completely.

As FBI Director, Comey was leading an investigation against Trump for alleged ties with Russia, which was denied both in the White House and in the Kremlin. At the same time, Trump’s rival in the presidential election in 2016 Hillary Clinton also accused Comey of helping Trump defeat her by spreading unconfirmed information about a new investigation against Clinton 10 days before the election.
