Montenegro to become NATO member on June 5th

As reported by RTCG.me, Montenegro will officially become a member of the North Atlantic alliance starting from June 5th, 2017.

“After depositing the ratification instrument, which is scheduled for June 5th, Montenegro will formally become a NATO member state,” said in the message.

On May 10th the upper chamber of the Spanish parliament ratified the protocol on accession of Montenegro to NATO. Thus, Spain became the 27th member of the Alliance, which ratified the accession of Montenegro to NATO.

The national procedure is over in the Netherlands as well. After June 1th an instrument of ratification will come into force in this country, and then the process of ratification will be officially completed in all NATO member states.

This process will be accompanied by a letter of invitation for Montenegro to join NATO from the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.

The Parliament of Montenegro voted to ratify the law on the country’s accession to NATO on April 28th.
