Ukraine blocked Russian web services Yandex, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on new sanctions against Russia, which include blocking access to social networks VKontakte (VK.com) and Odnoklassniki (OK.ru).

Access to all Yandex services (Yandex.Money, Avia, Webmaster, Video, Mail, Metro, Cashier, Calendar, Movie Search, Weather and Yandex News, Taxi, Music, Search) will also be blocked. The text of the decree was published on the official website of the president.

The access to social networks was blocked within the restrictions imposed on Mail.Ru Group. Providers will also have to block access to the Mail.ru website itself.

The sites of Kaspersky Lab’s anti-virus companies and DrWeb will be blocked as well.

In addition, there will be blocking of assets, and a ban on transactions and broadcasting of the largest Russian television companies: TV Center, RBC, VGTRK, NTV-Plus, Zvezda, TNT, REN, OTR.

A total of 468 legal entities are on the sanctions list, as well as 1,228 individuals.

Yandex, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki are among the most popular websites in the Ukrainian Internet segment. For VKontakte Ukraine is the second largest market after Russia.
