Macron slams RussiaToday and Sputnik as ‘deceitful propaganda’ during joint news conference with Putin

Speaking at a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron called the Russia Today TV channel and the Sputnik news agency “agents of influence and propaganda”.

Macron spoke on the work of Russia Today and Sputnik answering a question from a reporter from RT France (French service of the Russia Today), who said that Russian journalists had “certain difficulties” with access to Macron’s election headquarters during the French election campaign.

“I will not give an inch on this. During the campaign, Russia Today and Sputnik were agents of influence which on several occasions spread fake news about me personally and my campaign,” Mr Macron said. “They behaved like organs of influence, propaganda, and deceitful propaganda. No more, no less.”

Macron assured that he was going to “have exemplary relations with journalists if they are journalists.”
