An unprecedented hurricane with rain and hail hit the Russian capital today, on May 29th. 11 people were killed, and more than 50 were injured as a result of the disaster.
It was noted that Russian weather forecasters completely missed the coming danger: their forecast did not warn about anything except for the usual thunderstorm. However, the strength of the storm turned out to be catastrophic: the hurricane demolished metal garages, crashed tower cranes at construction sites, tore down roofs, billboards, and trees. Even the Moscow Kremlin suffered: a significant part of the roof of the Senate Palace was torn up.
“More than 50 people seek for medical help because of the hurricane that hit Moscow, there are several children among them. People keep coming, 11 people were killed,” reported the press service of the Department of Health of the Russian capital. “The wounded were admitted to ten hospitals in the city. Medical assistance was provided immediately and in full. Data on the number of dead and injured will be updated.”
