NATO says it successfully finished transferring troops to Baltic countries and Poland

During his visit to Latvia, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the completion of the transfer of the alliance troops to the eastern flank: to the Baltic countries and Poland.

“As of today, redeployment has been completed,” he said at a ceremony at a military base in Adazi, 20 kilometers from Riga.

Thus, NATO fulfilled its promise to “defend the union, react to aggression and protect peace”, given a year ago in Warsaw, Stoltenberg stressed.

He considers the number of troops in the region sufficient, no further transfer is planned.

At the same time Stoltenberg urged the countries of the alliance to continue searching for ways for a dialogue with Moscow. No one wants to return the Cold War, the NATO Secretary General stressed.
