Article of impeachment against Donald Trump was filed in U.S. Senate

The first formal article of impeachment against U.S. President Donald Trump has been submitted to the U.S. House of Representatives by congressmen from the Democrats Brad Sherman and Al Green.

Sherman acknowledges that filing the article is “the first step on a very long road.”

“In all of this, Donald John Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as president and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States. Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office,” the article of impeachment states.

In addition, the congressman is convinced that Trump’s conversation with former director of the FBI James Comey and subsequent dismissal of the latter testifies to “obstruction of justice”.

Sherman noted that he wants “to begin a long process to protect our country from abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and impulsive, ignorant incompetence.”

He also expressed gratitude to his colleague Al Green, who agreed to join this initiative.
