The head of the self-proclaimed ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ Alexander Zakharchenko announced the establishment of a new country: Malorossiya (‘Little Russia’ – RRT).
The state was ‘established’ within the borders of Ukraine (with the exception of the Crimea). Donetsk has been declared the capital of Malorossiya, and Kiev remains “a historical and cultural center without the status of the capital city.”
According to Zakharchenko, “re-establishment of the country” will allow to end the war in Ukraine. At the same time, in his opinion, “the very name of Ukraine has discredited itself.”
Zakharchenko also proposed to introduce a state of emergency in the new country for 3 years. For this period, any activities of political parties will be suspended, and at the same time “crimes in Odessa, on the Maidan, in the Donbass” should be investigated.
As Alexander Zakharchenko told journalists, the establishing of Malorossiya was initiated by “representatives of the regions of the former Ukraine”. He did not specify which regions. He also noted that the project will require the support of Ukrainians and the international community.
