For the first time since WWII Russia will start training female war pilots

As reported by TASS, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said that Krasnodar Aviation School will start accepting girls as students for training as military pilots.

According to the minister, this will happen “for the first time in the newest Russian history”.

“There are a huge number of girls who would like to become military pilots, and we received hundreds of letters from them, so we decided that this year we will recruit the first group of girls,” Shoigu said.

There will be 15 people in the first group, the training will begin on October 1st, 2017. As TASS notes, earlier the Krasnodar Aviation School had accepted girls, but not for flying specialties.
