Russian Airborne Troops Commander got into car crash


The commander of the Airborne Troops of Russia Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov got into a traffic accident in the Murmansk region. This was reported by the Department of Information of the Ministry of Defense.

According to the department, the incident occurred on September 15th on a road in the Kola district of the region. A driver of another car lost control of his vehicle, drove into the oncoming lane, and collided with a van moving within the military convoy.

As a result of the accident Serdyukov and a serviceman who accompanied him were injured. They were taken to the intensive care unit of the hospital of the Northern Fleet. According to the media, Serdyukov was hospitalized with a serious head trauma and a spinal fracture.

The driver of a car – a 34-year-old resident of Murmansk – died in an ambulance from the injuries. His wife was hospitalized with severe injuries. Their children – boys 16 and 17 years of age – received minor bruises.

At the moment, the health of the Airborne Commander is satisfactory, his life is not in danger.
