Kazakhstan started exporting natural gas to China

As it follows from the statement on the website of company KazTransGas, Kazakhstan started supplying natural gas to China.

In total, 5 billion cubic meters of gas should be exported. The deal was estimated at $1 billion.

The beginning of gas exports was honored with a ceremony in the Unified Dispatch Center of the gas operator in Astana (the capital of Kazakhstan – RRT), attended by the Energy Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev.

“Today we are witnessing a historic event. The signing of an agreement on the export of natural gas with China is the result of the successful work of KazMunaiGaz and KazTransGas. An alternative route for export of ‘blue fuel’ from Kazakhstan has appeared, and the export of five billion cubic meters of gas to China has began,” said Bozumbaev, addressing the audience.

As the minister noted, is is technically possible that Kazakhstan can supply natural gas in the amount of 10 billion cubic meters a year.
