Russia was deprived of 2 gold medals of Sochi-2014 in bobsleigh, and now holds 3rd place in medal count

The International Olympic Committee disqualified Russian bobsledder Alexander Zubkov. Thus, Russia loses both gold medals of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in the bobsleigh: in men’s twos and fours.

As a result, holding only 10 gold medals, Russia dropped to the 3rd place in the informal medal standings, after Norway (1st) and Canada (2nd). The gold in fours goes to Latvia (this will be the second gold of the country), and Switzerland will get the gold medal in the competition of twos.

In addition, Russia lost a silver medal in speed skating: Olga Fatkulina, who finished second at 500 meters, was disqualified.

Zubkov, Fatkulina, and two other athletes, who didn’t win any medals (bobsledder Olga Stulneva and speed skater Alexander Rumyantsev) were disqualified for life. They will not be able to participate in the Olympic Games.
